Cinematic music for your narrative-driven games and visual media experiences

Mark is a freelance composer focused primarily on video games, with a background as a classically trained pianist from the Royal Academy of Music. He holds a MA (Distinction) in Orchestration for Film, Games and TV from Thinkspace Education (University of Chichester) and a BSc in Computer Science from Clare College (University of Cambridge). Mark is a BAFTA Games Connect member and was also a 2023 BAFTA Games Awards juror for Audio Achievement.

Games credits include Talewind Studio’s Breezy Bay, Captilight Studio’s Path of Kami: Journey Begins, Flying Carpets Games’ Hiboka, Teazelcat Games’ as yet unannounced debut title, and a few other TBA titles with some established indie game studios across Europe.

Since 2015, he has had the distinct pleasure of being Resident Composer at Whole Hog Theatre, a company that exclusively supports and creates Anglo-Japanese and Anime-to-stage collaborative works. They started with the word's first theatrical adaptation of Princess Mononoke, based on the film by Hayao Miyazaki with the kind permission of Studio Ghibli. The company has also adapted well-known classical works - such as Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet - into Japanese, with performances taking place in Japan. Their latest show is The Garden of Words (言の葉の庭) Official Stage Production, a film currently celebrating its 10th anniversary, created by one of anime's most beloved directors, Makoto Shinkai (your name.), with kind permission from ComixWave Films. Mark received an Offies nomination for his score to the stage adaptation’s world premiere in London in August 2023.

As an arranger and orchestrator, Mark has been nominated twice for a Game Music Remix Award in 2021 and 2023; firstly, for a track from his Ni No Kuni tribute album and secondly, for an arrangement from his Divinity: Original Sin 2 collection. In 2020, he won Videri String Quartet’s Quarantets competition with his arrangement of Alone We Have No Future from Death Stranding. He has also been a resident arranger for the London Video Game Orchestra since its inception and regularly produces arrangements for them to perform at their concerts which take place 3 times a year.

His previously licensed music (EMI, BMG, Lovely Music, Ninja Tune and others) has been used globally across the major terrestrial TV and radio channels. He has also performed and recorded at the O2 Wireless @ Hyde Park, Southbank Centre, ITV London Studios, Shepperton Studios, Snape Maltings and Jazz Cafe Camden as a soloist, session pianist or with the (sadly now defunct) band which he co-founded.
